Joyce Frost is co-founder of Riverside Risk Advisors and has over 25 years of experience in the interest rate, currency and credit derivatives markets. She is an industry leader in the LIBOR Transition and an active member of the ARRC’s Bilateral Business Loan Working Group, Accounting and Tax Working Group and Conforming Changes, Tax and Term SOFR sub-committees... ↓

Prior to founding Riverside, Joyce was a Senior Vice President of Cournot Capital Inc, a highly successful seller of credit protection sponsored by Morgan Stanley. In her capacity, Joyce assisted in ramping up a portfolio of over $25 billion in swap notional, securing triple AAA credit ratings from three agencies, issuing $250 million of Senior Debt, and facilitating the successful sale of Cournot to an affiliate of Magnetar Capital in 2008.

Prior to Morgan Stanley and before a six year retirement, Joyce was Head of Marketing for Chase's newly-formed Credit Derivatives Group. Between 1995 and 2001, Joyce contributed to the development and execution of the bank's first credit derivatives transactions, including total return swaps, credit default swaps, off balance sheet financing vehicles and the market's first synthetic CLO. Her clients ranged from banks, insurance companies, hedge funds and corporations. During her tenure, Chase's Credit Derivatives group was rated "Best in Credit Derivatives" by Global Finance Magazine and "Best in Credit Derivatives" by Derivatives Strategies Magazine, in addition to other premier industry recognitions.

Between 1985 and 1995, Joyce was responsible for marketing fixed income derivatives to corporate, project finance, real estate and other end users. Joyce successfully concluded hundreds of transactions ranging from plain vanilla swaps to the most complex cross-border project finance transactions in Latin America. She started her fixed income career at The Northern Trust Company, continued at Chase and spent five years at Sumitomo Bank Capital Markets.

Joyce is Co-Editor of the Handbook of Credit Derivatives (McGraw Hill, 1999) and author of many articles published on the use of derivatives by corporations and other end-users. She has spoken at dozens of industry conferences throughout North and South America and Europe.

Joyce earned a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and completed MIT Sloan School of Management's Executive Program: Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy.

Joyce was honored to receive the Legacy Award for the 2019 Market Choice Award: Women in Finance in New York City.

She currently is Board Chair of Excellence Community Schools, a network of charter schools in New York City and Stamford CT, Founding Chair and current VP, Board of Trustees of the Bronx Charter School for Excellence, one of the top rated charter schools in New York State, and a thirty-year member of the Board of Directors of New York Cares, New York City’s premier volunteer organization.

Prior to starting Riverside Risk Advisors, Chris ran the corporate interest rate derivatives and foreign exchange sales business for the Americas at Societe Generale in New York as a Managing Director. In this capacity he and his team advised corporate clients on a broad range of strategic and tactical solutions related to liability risk management.

Starting in 1995, Chris significantly grew Societe Generale’s derivative footprint throughout the Americas and was involved in numerous landmark hedging and capital raising transactions across a wide range of industries including energy, project finance, infrastructure, private equity, media & telecom and real estate. Notable transactions include designing and executing the delayed takedown private placement hedges for Neptune Regional Transmission (voted Deal of the Year by Project Finance Magazine in 2005) and leading the bank debt hedge program for Peru LNG (voted Deal of the Year by Project Finance Magazine in 2008). Chris was also instrumental in structuring and marketing several prepaid natural gas transactions and executing the taxable and tax-exempt interest rate hedges that were required to secure the underlying economic value for these transactions.

Prior to Societe Generale, Chris was in the corporate derivatives group at Citicorp from 1994 to 1995 where he marketed fixed income derivatives primarily to energy companies. Before Citicorp Chris worked at Renaissance Software, a startup software company that provided fixed income and currency risk management systems for international swap dealers. Before joining Renaissance, Chris worked in the equity sales division at Goldman Sachs from 1989 to 1992. Chris began his career at The Northern Trust Company in Chicago where from 1985 to 1989 he was a commercial banker and U.S. Government bond trader.

Chris earned a BA (magna cum laude) in Economics from Duke University and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Chris is also a CFA charterholder.

Chris is an avid cyclist completing the “Race Across America” in 2007 and a former nationally-ranked triathlete.

Steve has more than 15 years of experience working with project finance sponsors, private equity firms and institutional investors designing and implementing sophisticated hedging programs... ↓

In addition to providing structuring and execution advice for managing interest rate, foreign currency and commodity risk, Steve assists clients in negotiating key commercial terms of the transaction and developing efficient trading processes to achieve best execution with the dealers. He works with many clients in North America, Western Europe and Asia. Steve is also Riverside’s resident expert on working with project finance and infrastructure sponsors within many emerging markets, including South Africa, Turkey, Poland, Jordan, Chile, Colombia and many other markets. Steve has deep expertise assisting clients in structuring fixed rate, currency hedged debt for use in cross-border transactions.

Steve has assisted project finance clients, private equity sponsors and institutional investors in negotiating hundreds of customized ISDA and Collateral support agreements. He has worked with most major law firms and the dealing desks of all major banks and many of the regional institutions. Steve’s focus on ISDA documentation is especially valued by clients when their hedges are restructured, novated or amended as much of the market flexibility and framework for transparency is often defined in the ISDA.

Prior to joining Riverside, Steve was an investment professional trading interest rate, currency and commodity derivatives at NISA Investment Advisors, a fixed income asset management firm specializing in managing pension fund assets. He continually assisted derivative end-users in a structuring, sales and trading capacity role and helped build and maintain a ~$200 billion long duration swap portfolio in addition to assisting in the execution of more than $15 billion in equity and commodity derivatives.

Steve holds a J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis and a BS (with Honors) from Cornell University where he focused on applied economics and mathematics. Steve is a licensed attorney in good standing in New York. In his free time, Steve is a competitive motorcycle racer and enjoys playing and listening to music.

Leanne works with the firm’s corporate, private equity, real estate, and project finance clients on the education, implementation, and ongoing support related to accounting for derivatives. She frequently consults on complex accounting matters related to hedging, and provides teach-ins to clients, auditors, and lawyers on the economics and accounting of derivatives. Leanne also works with the firm’s clients to negotiate and execute interest rate and foreign currency hedging transactions.

Prior to Riverside, Leanne was the Treasurer at BNC Bancorp, responsible for interest rate risk management, liquidity and funding management, and the bank’s derivative programs. She developed a centralized platform that significantly expanded the bank’s derivatives advisory services for commercial real estate clients, and worked with clients on the structuring and implementation of risk management programs, including valuation and accounting. Leanne gained broad experience working with both auditors and regulators on accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory matters. She was also responsible for pro forma balance sheet modeling and analysis of institutions targeted for acquisition; she contributed to BNCN’s successful consolidation of nine institutions since 2013.

Leanne began her career at Sandler O’Neill & Partners in New York, working with community banks on strategy development, including interest rate risk management, investment portfolio strategy, retail and wholesale funding management, liquidity planning, derivatives strategy, M&A strategy, and stress testing. She spent two years on the Interest Rate Products Desk, structuring and executing hedge transactions for community bank clients.

Leanne holds a Masters of Accounting from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Economics from Lafayette College. Leanne is a Certified Public Accountant.

Blaise led the development, structuring, and execution of bespoke hedge strategies for private equity sponsors and end-users within the Energy, Real Estate, Agriculture, and Entertainment Finance sectors. Blaise has a keen ability to optimize market insight providing sponsors with an optimal balance of cost and flexibility while hedging. Blaise also has extensive experience negotiating the critical commercial points of the hedge documentation.

Blaise began his career at the bank as a Credit Analyst developing an understanding of the constraints and opportunities for debt, leverage, and hedging which led him to the Interest Rate Derivatives desk within Global Capital Markets. Blaise quickly ascended as a top performer in the Bank by establishing hedge advisory partnerships with many of the bank's highest-profile clients.

Blaise earned a BA in Economics and Economic Geography from UCLA and is a graduate of Union Bank’s Management Training Program. In his free time, Blaise enjoys playing ice hockey and riding motorcycles.

Prior to Riverside, Neil spent 14 years at GE Capital where he was recruited to build its customer-facing rates hedging business. He and his team grew the business to over $80B of notional amount, fully integrating the platform into GE Capital’s vast commercial lending operations in the US.

Prior to GE Capital, Neil was in the Global Markets Group at FleetBoston Financial and its predecessor Fleet Bank for more than a decade. He structured and marketed interest rate and FX hedging solutions to a broad range of clients in the midcap corporate, commercial real estate, energy and gaming sectors.

Neil earned a BS in Finance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He lives in Boston and is an avid cyclist, runner and golfer.

She was responsible for underwriting and originating equity-linked capital raises (convertible bonds) and structuring and valuing corporate equity derivative transactions, including call spreads, capped calls, collars, and accelerated share repurchase programs.

Bethany's primary focus was working with corporate and private equity clients hedging transaction risk and optimizing capital structure with special emphasis on tax considerations and security regulations. Notable transactions include Dish Network's $3bn call spread and convertible notes due 2026, which received IFR's 2016 Americas Structured Equity Issue Award, and sole structuring agent and counterparty to the $1.5bn funded collar on Waha Capital's stake in AerCap, which won the M&A Advisor's 2015 Cross Border Financing Deal of the Year Award.

Prior to Deutsche Bank, Bethany began her career in engineering in the energy sector at allmineral, LLC where she focused on project finance and process design for pre-combustion coal cleaning plants.

Bethany holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Emory University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and two daughters and loves to travel.

During his seven-year tenure at Citibank, he developed and marketed derivative solutions for corporations, public sector entities, and infrastructure projects, primarily with Latin American clients and conducting his business in fluent Spanish. He is adept at addressing risk management objectives in tandem with their credit-risk, tax, regulatory, and accounting implications.

Moreover, Alex has experience working in partnership with multilateral development banks to deliver currency hedges in frontier jurisdictions including Uruguay, Costa Rica, Jamaica, and Haiti, where swap liquidity is limited or non-existent.

Alex graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University, earning a B.A. in Mathematics & Philosophy. A hobbyist classical pianist, he is Board Secretary of the New York Piano Society and has performed at multiple concert venues, including Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Alex lives in Long Island City with his husband, who is a chef and best-selling cookbook author.
